Wireless EETAC

With the idea of facilitating the possibility of learning anywhere and anytime, the school offers a quality mobile learning environment with:

• Wireless coverage (WLAN) in students areas (classrooms, library, study rooms, canteen, corridors etc.), as well as a high number of fixed internet connections in classrooms, labs and library.

• Use of laptops in classes: the number of courses incorporating use of laptops is growing very fast. Several PC-Kars are used (a “car” containing 20 laptops and additional batteries).

• There is also the possibility to borrow a Laptop at the library for a maximum period of 4 hours.

• On the master degree programme two laptops are given to each team of students (4-6 students) for use in class, and for projects.

• The number of students bringing their own laptops to the school is also growing quickly. There is software relevant to various courses that are given to the students for use on their own computer.

• To facilitate the mobility of European students and researchers, UPC has joined Eduroam (Education Roaming) an initiative of TERENA (Transeuropean Research and Education Networking Association) which offers automatic wifi connectivity within the European academic institutions participating in the project.
